All The Perfumes Of Arabia

All The Perfumes Of Arabia

BY VIJAY DANDIGE (http://www.khaleejtimes.com)

From source to end-user, the agarwood (oudh) trade sustains long-standing traditions of cultural, medicinal and religious significance throughout Asia. As possibly the most valuable non-timber forest product per kilogramme, the business it generates also contributes to the income of a variety of stakeholders, from harvesters, middlemen traders, exporters, re-exporters, to the distributors and vendors in end-use markets. The productive involvement of agarwood industry traders is, therefore, of paramount importance if the relationship between supply and demand of this fragrant wood is to be managed, so that the trade continues for the long term.

This was the essence of the talk, titled ‘International Trade of Oudh, the perfume of Arabia’, that James Compton, regional director, Traffic Southeast Asia, recently delivered in Dubai. The talk was organised by World Wild Fund (WWF), Dubai, as part of the Earth Day celebrations, and was hosted by Dubai Municipality at its City Hall in Deira.

James Compton is also an agarwood trade researcher from Traffic, the joint wildlife trade monitoring network of WWF and IUCN, the world conservation union. Traffic works to ensure that trade in wild plants and animals is not a threat to the conservation of nature. It has 24 offices covering most parts of the world, with over 100 staff, and works in close co-operation with the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In his talk, Compton shared his experiences and Traffic's information on the global trade of agarwood gathered over the past 10 years.

He pointed out that the trade in agarwood dates back to 2000 years. Also known as aloeswood, eaglewood and gaharu, agarwood is a highly-prized wood and is used primarily for medicine, perfume and incense. Agarwood has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries in, for example, Ayurvedic, Tibetan and traditional East Asian medicine.

Agarwood perfumes comprise agarwood oil mixed with a carrier such as sandalwood oil. “Attar oil” for example, is a water-based perfume containing agarwood oil which is normally used by Muslims to lace prayer clothes. Agarwood essences have also recently been used to fragrance soaps and shampoos. Both agarwood smoke and oil are used as customary perfume in the Middle East.

Agarwood is the fragrant heartwood produced by species of the Asian Aquilaria tree genus. The agarwood resin is thought to be produced as a response to wounding or fungal infection of the heartwood. Thus, only a small portion of the mature trees, 10-20 per cent, produce the resin, and scientists till date have not been able to crack this code. Compton described examples of agarwood harvesting in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Papua New Guinea and import markets in Taiwan and Japan.

He cited Singapore's role as a re-export centre, serving the global market, as incredibly significant, both in terms of distribution and business revenue. The Middle East, primarily the Gulf States of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, together represent one of the most important centres of demand in the global market. Speaking about the trade volume, Compton observed, “While the agarwood grade volume may seem small when compared to mainstream timber trade figures, it is not small in monetary terms. He pointed out that Singapore's trade volume was 17,45,000 kgs between 1995 to 2003. At an average price of US$100 per kilo, the volume totalled US$ 1,745,000, 00.

And this was only from one species, according to Compton. Moreover, agarwood chips and segments may sell for several hundred to several thousand US dollars per kg. The price of oil distilled from agarwood is generally between five and ten thousand US dollars per kilogramme, but can be significantly more for agarwood oil of exceptionally high quality. Compton added that the high value of agarwood has also given rise to a host of ills, such as indiscriminate cutting and splitting of agarwood tress in search of the resin, over-harvesting and illegal trade, with the looming threat of over-exploitation leading to the commercial extinction of species.

Illegal harvests or trade have been reported in protected areas in Indonesia, from government plantations in India, as well as in Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. Compton said this has necessitated certain corrective measures and regulatory moves on the part of Traffic. Accordingly, all major agarwood-producing species have been listed on CITES Appendix II to harmonise international trade regulations. “This is not a ban”, pointed out Compton, “but a move to conduct the trade legally and sustainable under permit system.” Under CITES, permits can only be issued if it can be confirmed that agarwood being exported was obtained legally and in a manner not detrimental to the survival of the species.

Compton added that Traffic is calling for more effective harvest and trade controls, including improved implementation of CITES requirements and better tools for the identification of species in trade. Traffic has urged agarwood-exporting countries to address urgent problems related to management, trade controls and research to safeguard the future of this valuable cultural and economic source. Indonesia has already introduced a quota system, to manage its harvest and export in terms of both legality and sustainability.

Compton said more needs to be known regarding the flow of benefits from agarwood harvests and trade in order to increase the opportunities and incentives for more effective management of species in trade. Traffic is also calling for a workshop to be convened to provide an opportunity for the variety of stakeholders affected by Aquilaria conservation, harvest and trade to share information and experience, as well as to promote cooperation. "Cooperation is essential if we are to be successful in ensuring the future of both Aquilaria species and the agarwood they produce," Compton said.

Wine Tasting Tips

10 Great Wine Tasting Tips
by: Stuart Glasure

1. Try something new and you might be surprised. Let the staff make suggestions. Compare the wines aged in steel to those aged in oak barrels.

2. Take Notes especially if you are gone all day. Most wineries offer a list that will assist you on keeping track. When you get home to your local wine shop, you will appreciate having a cheat sheet.

3. Visit during off season. November through May is an excellent time. You might be only one of the few guests all day, so the staff can give you some extra time.

4. Ask Questions. Winery staff love to be engaged and help educate. They are trained to know a lot about the wines you taste.

5. Eat the crackers. They help you clean your palate and absorb the alcohol.

6. Don't just stick with the big-name wineries. Check out some of the smaller ones in the area.

7. The nose, knows. Try not to use too much perfume or aftershave. The aroma of the wine is half the fun of tasting.

8. Call ahead for large parties. If you call ahead some wineries will even arrange cheese and fruit trays.

9. Be patient. If you prefer to visit during the peak seasons, you will have a great time tasting, but it may take a minute or two for the staff to serve you.

10. To test for a really good wine, swirl it around the glass. Legs or tears are what is left trickling down the glass after swirling. The stickier and longer the legs the better the quality.

Amber is Beautiful

Amber is Beautiful
by: Sher Maten

Amber is a beautiful! A true gift from mother nature. It comes in many different colors - yellow, orange, red, white, brown, green, blue and almost black. It may be transparent or clouded. Transparent tones range from pale to dark yellow, to yellow light brown. Cloudy amber comes in a wide range of colors. Amber is fossilized resin of ancient trees that grew in amber forests. Through various physical and chemical changes the resin becomes Amber. Amber is unique because it is able to preserve the organic tissues in it. It is very common to find pieces of plants and insects, trapped in amber making it extremely valuable to both collectors and the scientists.

A beautiful and fascinating gem! Amber is found in various parts of the world. The largest amber deposits are off the shores of the Baltic Sea. Baltic Amber is the most sought after and valuable for making amber jewelry. Baltic Amber has been used for decorative items since prehistoric times. A Baltic amber amulet has even been found in Egyptian tombs .

Amber was also very popular in ancient Rome during the reign of Neron when: jewelry, ornaments, amulets, and even dice were made from amber. During the Middle Ages, amber prayer beads were exported. From the 16th century into the 18th century item made from amber included jewelry, dishes, buttons, pipe mouth pieces, chess sets and a host of other fine products. The majority of Baltic amber comes from a 400-square-mile area - the Samland Peninsula, now known as the Kaliningrad region. The Kaliningrad amber mine supplies 99% of the Baltic amber. Up until the 19th century amber was retrieved manually from the sea.

During the latter part of the 19th century operations became much more sophisticated as they began dredging and mining for amber. Since then millions of pounds of Baltic amber have been mined.. A small town in the Kaliningrad region has the world's largest amber mine.

Amber has a special beauty in its ability for each piece to be truly original in nature and content. The downfall to amber is like anything organic it does not last forever. Baltic amber is known to have the longest life expectancy. Taking proper care of your amber will result in enjoyment for many years, sometimes thousands of years as seen with the recovery of jewels from the past.

Some important tips for caring for your amber:

 Never store amber where it may rub against hard surfaces such as metal or other jewelry.

 Do not expose amber to harsh chemicals such as soap, jewelry cleaners, perfumes, hair products.

 Do not expose amber to direct sunshine or heat.

 To clean your amber wash in lukewarm water. Use a soft cloth to wash and dry. To restore the shine polish with pure olive oil. Where amber with pride, add it to your jewelry wardrobe and be sure to make your fashion statement!

Aromatherapy for Pets

Aromatherapy for Pets
by: Liz Santher

Pets can enjoy the therapeutic effects of aromatherapy as
much as humans can. Aside from possibly eliminating bad
odors and giving your pet a pleasant perfume, essential
oils also serve many practical functions such as boosting
your pet's immune system, fighting off bacteria and
viruses, preventing the growth of yeasts and molds and
repelling insects.

Aromatherapy is used by enthusiasts, groomers and pet
salons to trea mild ailments such as skin inflammations,
itchy skin ear infections, rashes, bad breath, flatulence
and motions sickness. Psychologically, certain oils also
have a calming or relaxing effect on animals. For example
lavender oil not only helps kitties repel insects but it
also makes them feel sleepy or content. Roman chamomile
can be used to treat an ear infection as well as soothe the
nerves of a dog in pain.

Essential oils are also frequently used as home remedies.
However before you attempt to use aromatherapy on your own
pets, keep in mind that essential oils are always diluted
before they are applied to a pet's skin or sprayed on their
coat. Almond oil, olive oil and jojoba oil are common base
oils to which a few drops of the essential oil is added.
Usually all that is needed is about one ounce of the base
oil combined with two to three drops of the essential oil.

Essential oils can also be diluted in a spray bottle and
misted onto the pet or the pet's bedding. You can simply
dilute a few drops in distilled water or you can use water
and a mixture of aloe, witch hazel or cider vinegar. The
traditional recommendation is to use 20 to 30 drops of oil
per eight ounces of liquid. Any less might not be
effective and any more might be toxic to the pet.

Oils can also be diluted in vodka or brandy and dabbed on
the bottom of the pet's paws or on an acupressure point
such as the tips of the ears. This is the technique to use
if you are dealing with a panicky pet. Never feed your pet
alcohol or essential oil directly.

Essential oils are also effective flea and tick repellents
and are nearly as effective as sprays and powders that
contain a lot of toxic chemicals. Oils such as peppermint,
citronella, lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, geranium, bay and
myrrh have been components of herbal flea sprays and flea
collars for many years. You can easily make your own flea
and tick spray by combining about 25 drops of any of these
oils into eight ounces of water. Shake the mixture well
and spray it on your pet, being careful to shield its eyes
from mist. This mixture can also be sprayed anywhere that
you suspect there may be a breeding bug infestation.

When using essential oils it is also essential for you to
remember that a dog or cat's sense of smell is much more
acute than our own. Signs that an aromatherapy treatment is
too overwhelming for your pet are tearing eyes, sneezing,
pacing or whining. Cats may lick themselves excessively and
dogs may rub their head on the ground in order to escape
the smell. Many pets also have allergies to essential oils.
For instance, chamomile is related to the ragweed plant,
which is a common allergen for both pets and humans. This
is why it is so important to use a mild solution at first
and use your powers of observation the first few times you
use an essential oil mixture on a pet.

Caring for yourself and thus your during treatment for breas

Caring for yourself and thus your during treatment for breas
by: Phil Wiley

Battling Cancer is a tough time in anyone’s life. Perhaps the toughest. And it can have a huge impact on your family. That’s why we’ve decided to write this article on how to care for yourself during radiation for Breast Cancer.

It very important to properly care for yourself during radiation for breast cancer. Keep in mind that after radiation you could feel fatigued for up to six weeks. Sleep as much as you like during this time – one thing you really need is your rest.

Also, make sure after radiation that you wear a comfortable bra. Making sure your bra fits properly and doesn’t rub in any way is all part of good care for yourself during radiation for breast cancer. If a part of your bra rubs place a soft cloth between the bra and your skin.

Weight loss can be a problem after radiation treatment. In order to properly care for yourself during radiation for breast cancer make sure you eat a balanced diet. This will help you to avoid weight loss and keep your energy levels as high as possible.

Keep the skin fold area under your breast clean and talk to your doctor before using any powders, lotions, deodorants or perfumes. As part of your care for yourself during breast cancer radiation you need to make sure you are not using any products that might react with your skin at this time or do something to affect the radiation treatment in any way. Because of this it is best to avoid deodorants. Deodorants contain magnesium, and this can inhibit the effectiveness of the radiation treatment. To avoid reactions with the treated area, also avoid starching your clothes.

As part of care for yourself during radiation for breast cancer bathe the treated area in lukewarm water. This is because hot and cold water can damage your skin.

Be a Realtor with Curb Appeal

Be a Realtor with Curb Appeal
by: Angela Butera Dickson

Are you a realtor with curb appeal or are you more of a fixer-upper needful of updating?

How you present yourself to colleagues, buyers and sellers, from the very first moment, will influence your sales records as well as the confidence and satisfaction your new clients feel. Even if you’re a Realtor in demand, with more listings than hours in a week, you may well find areas that you can polish. Read on to make doubly sure you are a realtor with curb appeal and then watch your business grow!

Image is Everything

Like it or not your competence on the job will be judged by the first impression you give your new or prospective customers. Make sure they leave every meeting with you feeling confident, informed and satisfied with your ability to give them the service they want.

In order to leave a polished, professional impression you must excel in several key areas. Let’s take a closer look at these.

Courtesy Lives

Ask anyone what trait they most appreciate in a sales person and they will tell you it’s courtesy. Winning sales people understand that impeccable manners and unfaltering courtesy will lead to loyal clients who will not only speak well of their experiences but will recommend you to all their friends, relatives, acquaintances and even the check out clerk at the supermarket.

The positive publicity that comes from word of mouth is priceless, long lasting and your best sales tool. It can’t be purchased but once earned, it will repay you in promotional dividends for years.

Humor is Everything

Have you ever met a person with no sense of humor? Did you find their company enjoyable or did you spend your time looking for the exit sign? Life is difficult on its best days and we all get tired, frustrated and angry but your clients should never sense these things in you. Never – ever – offer complaints to your clients. If a difficult situation arises, solve it as quickly as possible. If you keep your patience and sense of humor you will keep your clients too.

Dress for Success

Successful people dress for success. It is easy to have confidence in a salesperson who looks confident and professional. Each property showing is a new job interview so dress for it, right down to your shoes.

If you’re inclined to wear a personal scent, be it perfume or men’s cologne, remember the three-foot rule. No one outside of three feet from your person should be able to tell you’re wearing fragrance. I’m sure you want to be remembered for your client-centered professionalism and not your unbridled use of the cologne bottle.

Perfectly Polished Space

From your office space to your car’s floor mats you want to project yourself as a sales person with an eye for detail and quality.

Scent is one of those things that people hold in memory the longest. Your car shouldn’t reek of cigarette smoke and your office trash shouldn’t hold the remnants of the raw onion sandwich you had for lunch. Don’t rely on an air freshener. Empty your trash can and ashtray. Make sure everything has a sparkling clean look, smell and feel.

By offering your clients a clean, relaxing atmosphere, they will feel encouraged to stay longer, look harder and ask the questions they need answered to feel most comfortable with buying or listing their property with you.

Winning Copy – Wins!

Do you make up your business cards, sales flyers, brochures and announcements on your office computer? You shouldn’t – unless they are professional grade.

Unless you are a superb desk top publisher, have a great eye for design and are an excellent writer, you should never attempt to produce your professional copy yourself. Handmade and homemade have no place in the advertisement arsenal of a realtor with curb appeal.

Hiring a professional copy writer is one of the smartest investments you can make. Perfectly polished ads with crisp informative copy, well done business cards and sizzling brochures make for inexpensive advertising. Poorly done items give the impression of a low budget business and the feel of a business that’s here today but may not be tomorrow.

Organizational Style

“We love it –we’ll take it,” the client says.

“I’ll write that up for you now,” the realtor responds and a few minutes later emerges from the back seat of his car with a crumpled offer form stained with ketchup and a dirty shoe print.

Lack of organizational skills shows the unpolished view of a realtor more than any other issue. Do what ever it takes to get organized and constantly be on the prowl for additional tricks to improve your “system.”

Last, Never Least

The last tip here is an important one. Remember the client after the sale – and they will remember you to their friends, relatives and neighbors for years to come. Have your copywriter prepare informational postcards, thank-you cards and 1st cards. Small, after the sale, house-warming baskets with fruit or condiments is a memorable gift as are coupons to local restaurants and family attractions. Few businesses have the keen competition that is ever present in the real estate market. It really doesn’t matter if sales are booming or depressed, a realtor must be on top of his or her game at all times. The first, and last, impression you leave will be lasting -make sure you are spit shined, polished and ready to sell. If growing your business is important to you - make sure you are a realtor with curb appeal.

Alone This Valentine's Day? First Of All, No, You A

Alone This Valentine's Day? First Of All, No, You A
by: Susan Dunn, The EQ Coach

Valentine's Day can range from annoying to dreadful when you aren't paired, so let's put a new spin on this!

You probably feel sorry for yourself because you're the Only One who's alone, but if you're alone you're NOT alone. According to the American Association for Single people, 82
million men and women in the United States are unmarried.

If you define adults as those over 18, 44% of US adults are single. By 2010, it should be 47.2%. That's getting very close to half. What will we do then? Rename the holiday? Abolish it? Or will those of us who are single rise up and demand our OWN holiday? An UNValentine's Day??

Holidays DO disappear, you know. When I was young, we celebrated May Day. Honestly, you bought Hallmark paper basket kits, you assembled them, you filled them with fresh flowers and
placed them on your neighbors' doorsteps.

I am not making this up.

But I am digressing.

Back to my point. A LOT of us are single, so you AREN'T alone if you're alone on Valentine 's Day. If that doesn't make you feel better, try these things, which will be just a little tongue in cheek, because I want to ramp you out of your position of feeling sorry for yourself. I've tried most of these, BTW, having been single longer than some of you have been alive, and they work!

This is the old - if you can't change IT, change your FEELINGS toward it.

FREUD!!!

How could we not mention F-R-E-U-D on the national ^romantic^ holiday? Remember Freud's "defense mechanisms"? A common misconception is that they're all "bad," but actually we need our defense mechanisms. They're helpful! We need our defense mechanisms to:

1. Minimize anxiety
2. Protect the ego
3. Maintain repression
a.It prevents discomfort
b.It leads to some economy of time and effort

I'm sure you're with me now that if you plan to, um, GET THROUGH VALENTINE'S DAY AS A SINGLE, a defense mechanism or 10 might come in handy.

So here we go.

DEFENSE, DEFINITION & APPLICATION

1. Affiliation: Dealing with emotional conflict and stressors (hereinafter referred to as "it") by turning to others for help or support. Valentine Application (VA): This is a great defense! Call your coach! Commiserate with friends. Talk to your sweet Mom.

2. Aim Inhibition: Limiting ^instinctual demands^, accepting partial fulfillment. VA: Invite a platonic boyfriend out for Valentine's Day and pretend it's all you really wanted. Who needs mad, passionate sex when you can talk about QuikBooks for three hours at Chili's, right?

3. Altruism: Deal with it by meeting the needs of others. VA: Do as I've done. Choose someone to shower with your affection - a grand-daughter works! Go out and buy all the things you'd want yourself - perfume, flowers, fluffy pink sweater, do it up big! Wrap 'em up, carry them over there, take her out and wine and dine her and savor! Feels great!

4. Anticipation: Deal with it by experiencing emotional reactions in advance of possible future events and considering realistic alternative responses or solutions. VA: Well, that's what we're doing here. We're circumventing a lousy Valentine's Day, and making our plans otherwise. How cool is that?

5. Avoidance: Deal with it by refusal to encounter situations because they represent ^unconscious sexual or aggressive impulses^. VA: Well, that would be Valentine's Day. You could cancel your own personal one.

6. Compensation: Encountering failure in one sphere of activity (like love life?), you over-emphasize another. VA: Let's do a clean-the-house marathon, or workout for 5 hours after work Friday.

7. Self-assertion: Expressing feelings and thoughts directly, non-manipulatively. VA: Go for it! Ask that cute new HR director out.

8. Sublimation: Attenuating the force of an ^instinctual drive^ by using the energy in other, constructive activities. VA: So, we work late Valentine's Day, finishing up a primo project, or go home and write poetry or paint. Good idea?

9. Intellectualization: Deal with it by excessive use of abstract thinking or making generalizations to minimize disturbing feelings. VA: We could talk about how nearly half the other adults in the US are also single, and it ain't so bad. Anyway it's not bothering ME. How about that?

LET'S AVOID THESE ONES:

1. Conversion: Turn it into a physical symptom "involving portions of the body innervated by sensory or motor nerves." VA: No getting of paralyzed arms because you'd really like to sock your ex.

2. Deflection: Redirecting attention to someone else. VA: Don't need to talk about "Loser-boy Tom." We can deal with our own stuff!

3. Identification: Unconscious modeling of one's self upon another person. VA: Sandra's got a great husband and she's going to Quebec
for Valentine's weekend, but that doesn't mean we have to dress and talk like her all week without ^being aware of it^.

4. Displacement: Change in the object by which the ^instinctual drive^ is to be satisfied. VA: Having been abandoned by your boyfriend, resist all urges to vent your anger on your room-mate! Keep your people and your emotions straight, ok? (EQ course available--www.susandunn.cc/courses.htm.)

5. Help-Rejecting Complaining: Requesting help and then rejecting it. VA: (I think that's whining, and playing the victim, don't you?)

6. Acting Out: Dealing with it by actions rather than reflections of feelings. VA: Don't get crabby and kick the dog, or go out and get drunk.

7. Projection: Attributing one's thoughts or impulses to another person. VA: No, your mother isn't mad at YOU, YOU'RE mad at your GIRLFRIEND. Keeping people and feelings straight again.

8. Regression: Suffering the loss of some of the development already attained and reverting to lower level of adaptation and expression. VA: None of that!

9. Autistic Fantasy: Deal with it by excessive daydreaming as a substitute for human relationships, more effective action, or problem solving. VA: This is why we all hate Freud!!

P.S. Work in an office? Send yourself flowers. Like half those other girls aren't doing that?

Aromatherapy Candles

Aromatherapy Candles
by: M J Plaster

Nothing turns a commonplace, ho-hum room into a radiant, inviting setting faster than the flicker of a few ordinary candles scattered strategically throughout the room. Add scented candles and you can quickly evoke childhood memories, transport your imagination to a tropical island, or infuse the room with the crisp scent of a pine forest. Aromatherapy candles add yet another dimension to the equation.

Aromatherapy candles release a small, but continuous stream of herbal and floral essential oils into the air as they burn. The chemicals in the essential oils enter your body as you breathe, and travel throughout the body, including the brain, through the bloodstream. You receive subtle benefits as the chemicals interact with your body. Don't expect to receive full healing benefits by lighting a candle, but aromatherapy candles provide the same dual benefits inherent in conventional aromatherapy in less concentrated doses: smell therapy and chemical reactions to the essential oils.

Burn aromatherapy candles to alter, enhance, and improve your state of mind while adding a touch of nature's pure perfume to your surroundings. What a pleasant, powerful quick fix to an otherwise rotten day, not to mention a less destructive alternative to downing a pint of ice cream or a pound of chocolate to chase away the blahs.

Let aromatherapy candles help set the right mood for others with whom you spend time. Your guests will only know that you have that "special something," that magical touch when it comes to hospitality.

Tips for Using Aromatherapy Candles:

Make sure that you purchase aromatherapy candles, not just scented candles. Look for labels that include "pure essential oils."

Select the right candle for the situation. The best way to ensure that you have selected the best candle to achieve your goal is to purchase a candle with labeling that reflects your desired effect.

Invigorate - Perhaps you arrive home lethargic and drained after a grueling day at work, and like so many other busy parents, your workday at home is just beginning—with no time for an intervening catnap. Treat yourself to a short break, and light an energizing aromatherapy candle. Invigorating candles typically contain some mixture of oils from the mint and citrus families. The mint essential oils—peppermint, spearmint, basil, and eucalyptus—provide quick stimulation, revitalization, and an extra dose of energy. Other invigorating essential oils include cedar, rosemary, cinnamon, geranium, cassia, and vanilla.

Relax – Sometimes a sense of accomplishment or closure leaves you wired. You know that feeling. You've finished a big project, and you're bursting at the seams with energy when you really want to kick back, relax and enjoy some quiet time. Light a stress-releasing aromatherapy candle, take a few deep breaths, and allow your mind to clear. Stress-releasing essential oils include lavender, chamomile, patchouli, geranium and rose.

Concentrate - Use aromatherapy candles to improve concentration when you need to tap into your creative powers. Nothing sparks creativity like the ability to concentrate and block mental and environmental distractions. Citrus essential oils help you to concentrate: lemon, orange, grapefruit, lemongrass, and bergamot.

Add atmosphere – You've planned a quiet evening at home with that special someone, and you've made every effort to impress. You've cooked a dinner right out of a Parisian bistro, fresh flowers grace your home, the table is set with china and linen napkins, the wine is chilling, and you've never looked better. Add the final touch with an aromatherapy candle containing some of the sensual essential oils: Ylang ylang, vanilla, neroli, rose, clary sage, sandalwood.

When using candles to add atmosphere, grouping candles together is fine, but less can be more. You're striving for natural and nonchalant: think elegant understatement, not sacrificial altar.

When you light more than one aromatherapy candle, burn candles with complementary, not competing essential oils. You don't want to burn candles with invigorating oils along with candles that contain a relaxing mixture of oils. Your body will receive mixed signals.

Why reserve your aromatherapy candles for special occasions or for company? Add an elegant touch and a little mood to your everyday life. What else can add so much pleasure with so little effort? Include aromatherapy candles in your repertoire to turn the mere ordinary into the extraordinary.

Choosing A Perfume

Choosing A Perfume
by: Sara Blackmoore

The choice of fragrances and scents seems to grow wider every day, as manufacturers fight for our attention and try ever harder to distinguish their offerings from the competition. With such a selection to choose from, how does one even begin to know where to start when it comes to buying perfume?

Broadly speaking, all perfumes fall into one of six different categories based on their dominant top notes. Different categories will suit different people or occasions.

Earthy or woody type perfumes evoke smells of the forest, and are usually very refreshing. They often tend to appeal to the older generation, and may make ideal gifts.

Oriental fragrances use strong spicy scents, and are ideal for special social occasions, but be cautious giving them to anyone you don’t know well – these intense perfumes can be a very personal choice.

The so-called “greens” are much lighter than the orientals, and are well suited to more casual wear. Because they make a less dramatic assault on the nose, they are also safer to give as gifts!

Modern “oceanic” fragrances are becoming more and more popular, particularly among younger people who appreciate the intense but often quite unusual scents, which instantly bring to mind seaside scenes. Naturally these are an excellent choice in the warmer months when thoughts turn to holidays.

Spicy fruity perfumes are also a good warm-weather choice, and can be a good all-round choice for the woman who wants to wear something with some traditional base-notes but is a little different to the classic floral scents.

Finally, those classic floral fragrances are suitable for almost everyone and any occasion. But be wary of cheaper brands; this most feminine of all the main groups works best when the ingredients used are of high quality, and that means less expensive brands can smell exactly that.

Ultimately, choosing a fragrance is a very personal choice, and many women prefer to stick with what they know and buy the same thing year after year. But by trying different fragrances from the same group as your favourite smell, you may just discover a new gem.

Choosing Your Flowers

Choosing your flowers
by: Fay Barrow

Flowers have been used for centuries to decorate and perfume houses.
Bringing fresh cut flowers into your home adds colour and scent it is
true, but the flowers add an extra dimension that cannot be created
with soft furnishings and accessories – they bring with them a sense
of life and growth, making a room come alive. Think how welcoming
Flowers are when you find an elegant arrangement in a hotel lobby or
a simple posy on a restaurant table. Having fresh flowers in your home,
even if only at weekends or during holidays, will instantly cheer you,
your family and friends and make your home much more welcoming.

Each season brings a fresh range of flowers and foliage to used around
the house, and weather you wish to create a formal arrangement for a
celebration or simply add some fresh flowers to a room, there is always
something new to try. You can make the most of special features in any
room with a carefully chosen and arranged selection of flowers, empty
fireplaces, table tops bedside cabinets, vanity shelves in bathroom and
kitchen tables are all ideal places to feature an arrangement of coloreful
flowers.

There is a lot of mystique surrounding the skill of flower arranging, but
with practice, you will find that your eye soon develops so that you create
increasingly effective arrangements. Once you have chosen a group
of flowers and foliage that you think will go well together, consider where
the arrangement will be place and which container you plan to use.

It is then a matter of creating a shape that suits all three and that shows
off the flowers and foliage to their best advantage. Some people find
this a very simple process; others have to take their time and make what
they believe to be mistakes along the way.

Keep a record of arrangements that catch your eye and try to think why
they attract you, is it the choice of colours? The container? Or the particular
flowers that have been used? Dramatic arrangements in hotel lobbies, for example
are great inspiration for smaller scale arrangements in your own home.

Used books, magazines, fabrics, and gardens to give you ideas of colours
and shapes, too, but don’t be afraid to experiment, you will soon get to know
what works and what does not.

A Fantasy No More

A Fantasy No More
by: Tim Mack

There was a woman in the water.

I thought. "I better call the Bridge and tell them."

I was about to turn for the Bridge.

But I thought to myself.

"Her arms are waving at me and beckoning me to come in the water with her."

She had a radiant smile and when I looked further, I realized that she was wearing no clothes. She had the most beautiful body that I had ever seen.

After months at sea, the site of a beautiful womans breasts were wonderful. I felt like jumping in the water to rescue her. But I knew we had a protocal for such things and I knew I had to get a grip on myself.

I thought to myself. "Oh my God. I'm having a mermaid fantasy. Of course she can't be real. After all were a thousand miles from the nearest land and thats even a long swim for a mermaid."

I knew deep down that she couldn't be real, but I wanted her to be real. I needed her to be real. After months at sea without a woman, I was going to enjoy the sight of her regardless if she was real or not.

I thought. "I have to keep my wits about me."

But, I couldn't help but stare. She kept waving her arms at me and revealing the most perfect breasts I had ever seen.

Just then my shipmate Don appeared. He said to me.

"You see it to. Don't you?"

I said. "Tell me first what you see."

Don shouted out. "I see Jesus."

I asked. "Are you seeing Jesus as a Woman or as a Man?"

Don replied. "Everyone knows Jesus is a Man."

I replied back. "I like to keep an open mind on that subject."

Don just laughed and said. "Man, you're whipped."

I thought to myself. "Who knows whats really out there, if anything? But for sure, we all need to hit a port soon."

I thought to myself. "If I'm seeing Mermaids, the entire crew has to be crackers by now."

But then I thought to myself. "Maybe guys like I and Don, were really the lucky ones. Maybe each of us seeing what we wanted to see would keep us sane."

A few weeks later, we hit a port at last. I went to Jesse's Cafe to unwind and have a decent meal. Jesse was sort of my little secret. She was a girl that could really cook and she always made you feel at home.

I glanced up as I noticed the Cafe door open. A woman with the most fantastic body that I had ever seen, walked through the door.

I thought to myself. "I've only seen that ravashing a woman once before and it was in my recent mermaid fantasy."

As I poured my beer, I noticed that the ravishing mermaid was walking over to me. She had a very sexy blouse on and she had plenty of opened buttons showing off the cleavage of her magnificent breasts.

I felt sheer delight as I watched her breasts bounce as she walked. Looking down I noticed she was wearing a very short and tight skirt. She moved like a sex machine. She was 100% certified pure woman.

She smiled and said. "I've seen you on television."

I smiled back and said. "Thank you for the compliment, but I'm not an actor, I'm just a Sailor."

She said yes. "The Yankee Sailor that said eh seven times on Japanese television."

I laughed and said. "Oh, you saw that eh."

She said. "Yes. I'm a reporter and I tried to talk with you soon after I watched the news clip. You made my fantasy change flags."

I asked? "Change flags?"

She said. "Yes. Before that news clip, I had always envisioned a rustic Canadian Sailor in my fantasy, but you changed all that."

I laughed and said to her. "I recently had a mermaid fantasy that looked just like you."

She laughed and said. "Wow, you just topped any other line I ever heard. Why do you sound so Canadian?"

I explained to her. "Since the day I was born, there was a Canadian family from Newfoundland that lived next door to me. My family and theirs were very close and I picked up an enormous amount of their words and manerisms without realising it."

She said. "I find your voice incredibly sexy."

"Thank you." I said, as her sexy talk was now giving me a throbbing erection.

She asked. "Why didn't the Navy want anyone to interview you?"

I explained to her. "That I had no idea that the TV cameras were rolling and I had no clearance to say what I said. Someone had asked me to say a few words for their scrap book. And thats all I thought I was doing."

She said. "No wonder the interview was so good. Thats why it went off as being so natural."

I thought to myself. "Oh baby. Do I ever feel like getting all natural with you. Months at sea without a woman and now I'm sitting here talking. Oh, I don't want to really have a conversation with you right now. I just want to make love to you. Oh, yeah, lets just go somewhere private."

I told her. "The press may have liked it. But it didn't do much for my Naval Career. I was told that they got a very angry call from Washington and blamed me for setting our relations back about ten years with the Soviet Union."

I thought to myself. "What the hell am I doing. Why am I talking about the Russians to her? Screw the Russians. I haven't had anything in months."

She laughed and said. "Oh yes. I can see why Washington may have been upset. That clip of you pointing to the North and saying that Japan and the US must stay unified as long as there is that evil empire to the North."

I said to her. "Look, this is all of the record."

She smiled and said, "I understand."

Just then Jesse brought over her plate, and asked. "Would you rather have it at this table?"

She said. "Do you mind?"

I replied. "Of course not, I always keep this table reserved for my favorite mermaids."

As we talked, I realized that my mermaid, was not only ravishing, but she was also quite brilliant, very political and had a sense of humor and wit, that was very unique. I went for her, hook, line and sinker.

All my little worries about Jimmy Carter and the Russians were quickly fading away. Then she pulled her chair back and crossed her legs. She had the sexiest legs I had ever seen. I couldn't even imagine sexier legs in a wet dream as nice as hers.

As she crossed her legs, her skirt rode up her legs and revealed a beautiful pair of thighs. Then she leaned back in the chair and I could notice her blouse tugging at her very beautiful breasts. Then she uncrossed her legs and leaned back some more on the chair while letting her legs spread out wide from her skirt, further revealing her very firm and sexy thighs.

As her skirt rode further up her legs, I told her. "I can't help but stare at your beautiful thighs. This my first day in port after being out a few months."

She smiled and seemed pleased and thanked me for the compliment. Then she leaned over and placed her hand on my knee and said. "Your quite a treat yourself."

I laughed and said. "Ah, I bet you say that to all your sailors."

Suddenly she bent down to take something out of her bag. As she bent over I got a birds eye view of her very shapley breasts.

She pulled a pen out of her bag and said. "You've got to write your ships phone number down for me."

I watched as the pen fell out of her hand and on to my lap. As she reached for the pen on my lap, her fingers brushed my pants zipper and seemed to linger longer than would be expected. She didn't say anything, but I noticed she had quite a smile on her face.

She turned and said to me. "I know this very remote part of the beach where I take all my Sailors. Would you like to see it?"

I said sure. "I would love to see it."

It was truely a beautiful and romantic spot. As I gazed into her eyes I gently pressed my lips on hers. After a few short seconds, I realised that her lips were as hungry for mine as I were for hers.

As I put my arms around her and felt her breasts press against my chest, it felt wonderful again to smell a womans sweet perfume.

She twirled her tongue around mine as I drove my tongue deep inside her mouth. I unbuttoned her blouse and started to kiss her upper breasts as I felt her hands unbuttoning my shirt. I unfastened her bra as she bit sharply into my neck.

Her breasts felt wonderful to touch. They were firm and nicely shaped. As I started to swirl my tongue around her nipples, I could feel her hands unbuckling my belt. My heart raced as her hand reached over to adjust the lever to push the car seat back.

It felt wonderful to be with a woman again. But she was very special. She was a fantasy that came true. She made all the trials and tribulations of the journey worth it.

We dressed and then took a wonderful walk, hand in hand on the beach as the full Moon reflected off the water. I had found my fantasy mermaid and she had found her fantasy sailor.

Quality Cologne, Perfume And Fragrances To Enhance Your Sex

Quality Cologne, Perfume And Fragrances To Enhance Your Sex
by: Mike Yeager

It has been said that a perfume is like gathering an armful of luscious rose pedals at the height of their bloom. The lovely scent, the heavenly fragrance and sensation you feel when surrounded by a quality perfume, fragrance or scent cannot be overstated. There can be a wide variety of ingredients in putting together a fragrance that is both appealing and attracting. Historically these ingredients have been divided between natural and synthetic; that is, between a man made or natural botanical substance. Perfume is meant to reflect and enhance the natural environment around us, which is why many people enjoy the thought of using only "Natural" fragrances and scents.

The best Perfume and fragrances will make your enticing.

In ancient civilizations materials and ingredients were added to oils used to perfume the skin. Today science is able to isolate and remove a pure single aroma from natural materials. As a general rule, the purer and more distilled the material, the more it costs. However, there are many wonderful fragrances you can buy that are both inexpensive and of a high quality.
